Open Classical proudly presents a powerful exploration of the moods and emotions associated with light and darkness.

Up and coming violinist Chloe Trevor and cellist Joseph Kuipers join Open Classical violinist/violist Mark Landson and pianist Thiago Nascimento in an engaging and uplifting program of music from both well known masters of the past and current Dallas based composers Margaret Barrett, Adam Eason and Mark Landson.

Open Classical's professional concert series is dedicated to musical artistry that takes the listener on a journey of emotions, and this program delivers that in spades.

The program begins with a darkly mysterious piano quartet movement by Gustav Mahler and concludes with the joyous rocking Finale of William Walton's piano quartet. In between, three works by Dallas based composers for solo instruments and piano guide the journey from darkness to light.

Margaret Barrett's Taken-Blessed-Broken-Given for violin and piano, played by Mark Landson and Thiago Nascimento, works in alluring shades of gray and sparkling colors. Joseph Kuipers then takes the stage for Adam Eason's Tango Notturmo, bringing us back into the nightly realm. Next, Chloe Trevor performs Mark Landson’s Sonata for Violin and Piano, “Troubled Souls”, which takes the listener from a dark point of anger to a beautiful catharsis of peace and light, and sets the stage for Walton’s masterful and energetic ending.
