The Altius Quartet, silver medalists of the renowned Fischoff Chamber Music Competition in 2014, plays a set of exhilarating concerts in preparation for their appearance at the 2015 Melbourne Chamber Music Competition.

Known for their energetic performance style and friendly audience interaction, the group also peppers their moving classical performances with original arrangements of popular tunes from AHA’s “Take On Me” to Ben E. King’s “Stand By Me”.

The program they bring to this set of concerts is a quartet “Sampler Pack”, featuring a sampling of some of the great movements of the string quartet repertoire from Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Haydn and contemporary American composer Kevin Puts.

Formerly in residence at SMU, the group now resides in Colorado, where they are the graduate string quartet in residence under the tutelage of the Takacs Quartet.
