Founders Agostina Migoni and Bethany Mamola are both sopranos from the United States who met while living abroad pursuing their opera careers.
“Das Blümelein Project was created in the fall of 2017 while we were living in Berlin learning a new language, taking opera auditions and working with different musical coaches. During our time in Germany, we visited a female concentration camp and on this trip,we read and listened to testimonials given from the women in the camp. After hearing their experiences, we felt very connected to these women and their stories. Leaving the camp, we looked at each other and asked "Why is what we do important?” and “How can we use our voices to help create a world that we want to be a part of?” That day, we made a decision: Going forward we would use our voices to tell stories, connect with others and share the human experience through the genre of art song. We decided to create our own opportunities and stop asking for permission to create. As a result, the project began to blossom.”
